This lecture discussed how both rabbinic norms and knightly masculinity ideals contributed to the constructions of gender identities among young Askenazi Jewish men during the high and late Middle Ages.
This talk explored the following questions: How did Jewish young men, who lived in northwestern Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages, dress? How did they behave in their daily lives? And what can be deduced from the way they dressed and behaved about their identities and the masculinities ideals that spurred their actions?
