Tour | Research Tour to Friedberg

Lecturer:

Prof. Elisheva Baumgarten, Dr. Neta Bodner and Dr. Tzafrir Barzilay, HUJI

Prof. Elisheva Baumgarten, Dr. Neta Bodner and Dr. Tzafrir Barzilay visited the town of Friedberg, in Hesse, Germany, to conduct a research about the history of the local Jewish community. We saw the local Mikveh, built in 1260, the deepest of its kind. We studied the details of its design and discussed who it served, and the rituals conducted in it. We compared the Mikveh to the local church, built around the same time, and visited the local Burg.
