mshh_bqvlvnyIn this lecture titled "A Tale of Cologne: The Jewish Community in Medieval Cologne - A Glimpse Beyond the Elite?", Dr. Shoham-Steiner presented his current research project focusing on the Jewish community of medieval Cologne. He showed that this community was different from the communities of the Jewish Rabbinic center in Mainz, Worms and Speyer in its communal organization, its Jewish identity and its economic activity. He explained these diferances by pointing out Cologne unique history, and it geographical location.
