Hannah Teddy Schachter is a doctoral fellow at Beyond the Elite studying the relationship between female royalty, especially queens, and the Jews in medieval Europe. With a focus in gender studies, material cultures, and social history, she holds a BA in German Studies from Clark University (USA) and an MA in Jewish Civilizations from the Hochschule für jüdische Studien Heidelberg (Germany). She was a Doña Gracia Fellow at Paideia-The European Institute of Jewish Studies (Sweden) during the 2012-13 academic year. Her doctoral research explores Jewish-royal relations in 13th-century northern France, with particular focus on Blanche of Castile, Queen of France (1188-1252).
